My Adventure in Amsterdam

My name is Arifa Rahmawati. I’m 13th years old. It was time for long holiday on June. In this holiday, on Tuesday the first week in June, I went to Amsterdam, Netherland. I went by myself without anyone. I went by airplane from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Schiphol International Airport. I arrived in Amsterdam at 07.00 p.m.

In the first time, when I just now arrived, I planned to check in to NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, that I had booked my room before I went to Amsterdam. I went to the hotel by taxi. NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky was a luxurious 5-star hotel and conference centre that located in the very heart of Amsterdam city overlooking Dam Square.

After I got my room, I took a bath then I walked to the Dam Squarewith brought my small bag, iPad and camera. At the Dam Square that night, there was musical performance. And I captured every moment there. At 9.00 p.m, I went back to the hotel for rested.

Tomorrow morning, I went to VVV/Amsterdam Tourist Board at 8.00 a.m, in there we can get free Amsterdam map for the tourist. I walked to pass the Dam Square, at the morning until afternoon, there’re many pigeons, we can feed the pigeons and take the pictures with them. And I didn’t want to throw away that opportunity. Then, I continued my trip to VVV.

After I queued for 15 minutes and got the map, I waited theelectric train in Amsterdam Central Station/Amsterdam CS, it’s located in front of Amsterdam Tourist Board. The Amsterdam CS is central of city transportation, everyday, there are 1,400 of train is passing. After I went up to the train, I had planned for visited some places the day. The first place, I visited Rijksmuseum, it’s the biggest national museum in Netherland. I was around the museum, looked and took the pictures from every seventeenth century artist’s collection. After that, I continued my trip to The Madame Tussaud. It’s the wax museum, there’re many the popular people statues that made from wax which look like the real people. Like, wax of Michael Jackson, Barack Obama, Celina Dion, Sir Isach Newton, and still many wax statues of others popular people in the world.

I did what I wanted in Madame Tussuad and I felt satisfied, then I walked to De Bijenkorf that located not so far from Madame Tussaud. De Bijenkorf is the elite level store. This store, sell all of children until adolescence requirements. Here, I bought bag with windmill and tulip motif, a pair of cute boot shoes, a fur jacket, a wool hat, a shawl, and many else. The time showed 4 p.m. I looked a Restaurant China Sea Places, this restaurant was float. It’s the romantic restaurant. I had lunch and dinner there. After that, I went back to the hotel by taxi.

That is the second day. By the hotel’s bike, I planned to visit the interested places in Amsterdam. I pedaled my bike directly to TheAmsterdam Bos, the wood forest in south of Amsterdam, very ideal for bike cause it’s completely with long road 48 Km and trail. There, I’ve been just around and took some pictures, again. I continued my trip the day to Vondelpark, the beautiful park in summer. I played in the lake, rose park, oar pond and tried the wooden clog in play area. And I never forgot to take the pictures. I was pedaling my bike to The American Book Center. That’s the store book with 7 floors, sell magazines, newspapers, etc.. When I had arrived there, I bought some novels. I also visited Artist Zoo, on the way, I passed The Amstel River, but I didn’t stop there. In Artist Zoo, I just looked little animals. Cause the time had showed 3.15 p.m and I felt very tired, so, I decided to return to the hotel to eat and took a rest.

In the third day, on Friday, I cut off to go to Alkmaar town by the taxi. In Alkmaar, there’s Holland Kaasmuseum or Holland Cheese Museum and Traditional Cheese Market. The Market only open in the first week on Friday, April until September from 10.00 a.m till 12.30 p.m. I really didn’t want to lose this opportunity. When I arrived, I took the pictures there and bought some cheese in that market as my souvenir. After that, I returned to the hotel by taxi, again.

         I prepared to return to Indonesia.

That’s my short holiday in Amsterdam. And that’s the first my alone experience. This my holiday was very interesting! And this my holiday will unforgettable in mind.
